Harvest of the Heart
This time of year, harvest is everywhere. The garden is generous, offering up peas, okra, pumpkins, and more than a few tomatoes that refuse to quit. The baskets get heavy, the kitchen counters stay full, and I find myself canning, cooking, or simply standing in awe of how much has come from a handful of seeds.
It makes me think about the kind of harvest that isn’t measured in jars or bushels — the harvest of the heart. Galatians 6:9 encourages us: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Motherhood, homeschooling, homemaking — none of it produces instant results. Some days it feels like we’re planting and watering but not really seeing much grow. But the harvest doesn’t always come right away. Sometimes it shows up in little ways: a child’s confidence growing, a moment of kindness you didn’t prompt, a peaceful morning when you expected chaos.
And sometimes the harvest is still ahead, waiting for its season. Just like the seeds we plant in the soil, the seeds we plant in our homes, our children, and our faith will, in God’s timing, produce fruit.
So, when you feel weary, remember this: the harvest is coming. Keep planting good seeds. Keep showing up in love. Keep trusting the One who makes things grow.
