“The First Signs of Change”

There’s something about September air — even before the leaves change, you can feel the season shifting. A cooler morning breeze, a pumpkin beginning to ripen (hopefully we’ll get more soon), the way the light looks softer in the evenings. Change doesn’t happen all at once; it shows up in little hints and whispers first.

Life works the same way. God often begins His work in us quietly, in small ways we might miss if we’re not paying attention. A little more patience in a tough moment. A softening of our hearts where we used to feel sharp. A gentle nudge to pray, forgive, or trust when it doesn’t come naturally.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” Change isn’t something to fear — it’s often God preparing us for what’s ahead.

So as you notice the first signs of fall, let them remind you that God is always working, even in the small and subtle shifts. Pay attention to the little ways He’s moving in your heart and home. Those small changes? They’re often the beginning of something bigger.

Take courage, friend. Just as the leaves will eventually turn, God’s work in you will bring about beauty in its time.
