Journal Prompts:
“Brain Dump”
This is how you will start every week. It’s exactly what it sounds like, you sit down and write whatever comes into your mind. Don’t overthink it!! It can be as simple as a grocery list, or as complex as an argument you had recently. This helps clear your mind of all distractions and keep you focused on the task at hand. (If you are called to share anything please tag me @theunchartedadventure).
Categorize your list of boundaries and why they fall under that category.
After reading “Types of Boundaries” list each of your boundaries from last week and why you feel as if they fall under that specific category.
Is there one area that has more than others? Are they all spread out evenly? Why do you think this is either way.
You should dig deep into the why. Pull out all the secrets you are keeping from everyone, possibly even yourself (I advise meditating prior to starting this journal, this will help you really dig deep and focus). Remember that no one else is going to see this besides you!!
Look at the big picture, what is going on in your life right now to make you want to set these boundaries?.
Take a step back from the specifics, look beyond what is right in front of you. what is calling you to be on this journey?
Prioritize your list of boundaries!
However this works best for you label each boundary in order of importance to you in the moment (as time goes on this order might change and that’s okay!! If this seems extremely difficult for you 1. take a step back, 2. ground yourself, 3. clear your head. Focus on your life in the moment, then come back and try again.
Practical Exercise:
Last week’s exercise focused on relaxation techniques. This week we are going to dig a little more into something that will aid in the progression of your boundary setting journey.
This week you’re going to people watch. Yep!! Pretty simple right?
Find a public place where you feel comfortable sitting 1-2 hours (or as long as you can find time for. I would recommend a minimum of 30 minutes).
Observe other peoples interactions with each other and take notes of what you see. Facial expressions, hand gestures, body stature, etc.. How do you feel about these interactions?
Basically, I’m asking you to quietly judge people. The reason being, is that if you think an interaction is awkward then it probably is. Seeing someone else do it should help you on your delivery of conversations.
