A Heart Prepared for Thanksgiving
Every year, as Thanksgiving week approaches, I tell myself I’m going to keep it simple — focus less on the menu and more on the meaning. But somewhere between the grocery list and the to-do list, it’s easy to lose sight of why we gather in the first place.
Thanksgiving isn’t about a perfectly set table or the fanciest meal. It’s about hearts turned toward gratitude — for God’s faithfulness, His provision, and His steady hand through every season.
When we shift our focus from perfection to presence, something beautiful happens. The little things — the laughter, the shared stories, even the burnt rolls — become the moments that matter most.
This week, I want to prepare more than just the house — I want to prepare my heart.
To pause and thank God for what He’s done.
To see His blessings, big and small.
To welcome His peace right into the middle of the holiday hustle.
Because true Thanksgiving doesn’t come from what’s on the table — it comes from who we’re gathered around it with… and the One we’re giving thanks to.
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” — Colossians 3:15
