Preparing the Heart of the Home
As Thanksgiving approaches, I always find myself doing more than just cleaning and cooking — I’m preparing our home.
Not just the floors and the fridge, but the heart of it all. The atmosphere. The peace. The tone that our family will carry into the holiday season.
November tends to stir up both excitement and a little chaos — lists to make, meals to plan, guests to prepare for. But I’ve learned that a peaceful home doesn’t come from a perfect house… it comes from an intentional heart.
So as I tidy up and get things ready, I pray. I ask God to fill our home with warmth, gratitude, and patience — because those are the things our family really needs most.
Sometimes preparing the heart of the home looks like lighting a candle and turning on soft music. Sometimes it’s taking a deep breath before answering a question for the hundredth time. Sometimes it’s slowing down long enough to notice the blessings already here.
This season isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence.
And when we prepare with love, gratitude, and faith, our homes become reflections of the peace that only He can bring.
“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” — Proverbs 24:3–4
