Day 3 – Flexibility is the Secret Ingredient

Okay friends—let’s talk real life.

I won’t be posting daily updates every day this month, but I wanted to kick off with the first full week of daily posts to build momentum. After that, I’ll switch to weekly updates… unless y’all want me to keep the daily posts coming! Honestly, the accountability is kind of nice.

Today was another reminder that flexibility is just as important as planning. We had to make a last-minute evening run to pick up duck feed (homestead life, anyone? 😂), so instead of the planned dinner, we grabbed Sonic while we were out. It’s rare that we eat out, so when we do, it really does feel like a treat—and I’m not about to beat myself up over it.

Here’s what today looked like:

  • Breakfast – French toast bites (still loving these leftover crusts), boiled eggs, and sweet cantaloupe 🍈

  • Lunch – Buttered noodles with cheese (aka kid-approved comfort food)

  • Dinner – Sonic (no shame here!)

I like to call myself a scrunchy mom—somewhere between crunchy and conventional. I aim for organic and homemade as often as I can, but I also believe in balance, moderation, and grace.

So no, today didn’t go exactly to plan, but we’re still within our meal plan for the week. No extra grocery store runs. No stress. Just a simple switch—Wednesday’s dinner gets moved to Thursday, and we keep rolling.

Sometimes sticking to the plan means allowing it to breathe.
